Aloha Everyone
Taking your surfing to the next level requires a commitment to being open to changing your approach. If your completion ratio of a specific turn is low, its most likely a result of poor technique. Poor technique is usually a result of muscle imbalances. Don’t beat your head against the wall. You can easily correct this in two steps. The first is to watch video of yourself surfing so you can begin to understand where your technique is breaking down during a turn. Understanding why it breaks down can be tricky if you don’t know what your looking for so the best thing to do is get coaching or really study or analyze video of some of the top surfers in the world. By addressing and correcting muscle imbalances it will allow you to generate power with your core and utilize your muscles more efficiently rather than relying on the dominant muscles we develop over time as surfers. Physically its more demanding to stay in a low powerful stance therefore we tend to all go too upright at times, the key is to stay lower over your board at all times. The more our arms get away from our body the more upright we become. The more balanced your muscles are the easier it is to apply proper technique. Train to surf. Have fun and keep pushing yourself. Enjoy the ride!
Peace
Pancho
